Simulation

Delta SubSea has invested a substantial amount of money in a State of the Art, FMC Schilling Robotics, ROV Operations Simulator powered by the CM Labs Vortex physics engine. The simulator is an identical layout to the actual ROV Controls in the Control Van and is used to train ROV Pilots on ROV Controls and ROV Operations. By using the simulator for training the pilots get an insight to the operations they will undertake and it is as close as possible to real life operations. The simulator has an additional instructor console that allows the instructor to see the piloting operations in 3D which in turn gives the instructor a view of all angles of operation allowing him to assess the pilot skills.

The simulator used is a Class 1 simulator which meets the standards required to allow 40 hours simulator time to be logged in the ROV Pilot Technicians logbook as operating time.
